Sara Carnes, ARNP

Sara Carnes, ARNP is a specialist in pulmonary and adult-geriatric acute care. She completed her bachelor’s degree in nursing at Graceland College in Iowa and her master’s degree in nursing at University of Phoenix in Arizona. She held national certifications in critical care, emergency and geriatric nursing prior to completing a post-masters certificate in adult-geriatric acute care nurse practitioner at Vanderbilt University in Tennessee. Sara joined the Florida Hospital team in 1993 at the Lake Placid campus where she served as Intensive Care and Emergency Services manager. Since that time, she has functioned as the Nursing Director for the Lake Placid campus, Director for the Clinical Education Department and Director of the orthopedics, pediatric and obstetric service lines. She also served as interim director for several departments including the Heart & Vascular Center and Critical Care department. Sara is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and Rotary International. She proudly served in the United States Army Nurse Corp as a Captain Ready Reserve. She has been a resident of Florida since 1984 and has resided in Highland County since 1993.
